The Beixalís hill climb, which took place the day before yesterday (Saturday the 26th), concluded the Andorran Mountain Motorsport Championship 2026, resulting in an unquestionable victory for Joan Gil, followed by Mikel Azcona and Gerard de la Casa, in second and third place respectively.
After the last climb of the championship, he proclaimed himself the vice-champion of the national mountain series behind Jordi Vilardell, while Gerard de la Casa finished third, both in the event and in the championship.
The last event of the championship was held over a very technical section of 2.8 kilometers of the CS-210 road, which featured fast areas, dangerously narrow sections, and tight turns.
Beixalís concludes the national mountain championship
Among the 31 registered drivers, Joan Gil was the dominant figure of the race, while Mikel Azcona and Gerard de la Casa battled until the final run to determine the remaining two podium positions.

At the wheel of his Silver Car S3 EVO, JOAN GIL showed no mercy to the rest of the rivals. After setting the best time in practice, the Andorran driver secured four partial victories, claiming the event with a total time of 3:11.88.
With a time of 3:17.85, Mikel Azcona (Hyundai Elantra N TCR) achieved a close second position, just 0.37 seconds ahead of the Ford Fiesta WRC driven by Gerard de la Casa. Ramon Plaus (Speed Car GTR EVO) finished in fourth place with 3:19.18.
Gil starts the recital in the first race
Joan Gil began the competition with an undeniable statement of intent after clocking 1:35.89 in the first run, the best individual time of the day. This time gave Gil a lead of 5.06 seconds over Ramon Plaus, who finished second in this first round at Beixalís with a time of 1:40.95.
Notably, the closest battle - in fact, this was the tone of the entire meeting - was between Andorran Gerard de la Casa and the Arrigorriaga pilot, Mikel Azcona. With a time of 1:41.58, the driver from Gedith Center secured third position, while Azcona finished fourth with 1:41.59. As you can see, only a hundredth of a second separated both drivers. With a time of 1:45.53, the fifth place went to Jordi Enjuanes (Van Diemen RF95).
Azcona goes on the attack in the second round!
In the second run, Joan Gil maintained his lead after stopping the clock at 1:36.35, while Mikel Azcona, significantly more precise, reduced his time to 1:38.72, climbing from fourth to second position.

Ramon Plaus also improved his time (1:39.59), securing the third place. Despite cutting 1.26 seconds from his time in the first run (1:40.32), Gerard de la Casa finished this second climb in fourth place.
De la Casa counterattacks in the 3rd race
With Joan Gil clearly positioned as the winner, having closed the third climb in 1:37.12, the battle for second and third place was again led by Gerard de la Casa, Mikel Azcona, and Ramon Plaus. In this regard, De la Casa marked his best climb of the day in this third confrontation after stopping the clock at 1:38.83, a time that allowed him to reclaim second position.
With 1:39.59, the same time he recorded in the second climb, Plaus secured third place, while Azcona (1:40.35) took fourth place. Jordi Enjuanes (1:43.32) once again secured fifth position.
A driveshaft ends Edgar Montellà's chances
The Encamp driver, Edgar Montellà, who began the meeting improving his times in both practice and the first two races (achieving a best time of 1:46.06 that confirmed his good adaptation to the Yacar), had to retire unexpectedly while competing in this third climb, in fact, when he was just two turns away from the finish. The pilot from Encamp suffered a driveshaft breakage that forced him to withdraw from the competition.
Joan Gil, blessed and favored!
As expected, the final climb once again featured Joan Gil as the main protagonist. The driver of the Silver Car S3 EVO closed the last climb with a record of 1:35.99, a tenth above his best time of the day. Thus, Gil completed a flawless day, well above the other drivers.
In this final round of Beixalís, Mikel Azcona managed to react with as much precision as determination, achieving the second-best time of the run (1:39.13), a time 26 hundredths below Gerard de la Casa's time (1:39.39), who finished third.

Thanks to the sum of the two best records, Azcona finished in second place overall with 3:17.85, while only 37 hundredths behind, Gerard de la Casa finished third (3:18.22). Ramon Plaus and Jordi Enjuanes finished fourth and fifth respectively, with 1:40.26 for the first and 1:42.53 for the second.
Notably, the fourth race also allowed Erik Faura, Yann Le Potier, and Ferran Font to improve their times, consolidating their respective positions in the general classification.
The provisional general classification of Beixalís, established from the sum of the two best climbs of each driver, confirmed the unquestionable victory of Joan Gil. With a time of 3:11.88, Gil achieved a difference of 5.97 seconds over Mikel Azcona, the second-place driver, and 6.34 seconds over De la Casa, the third. Ramon Plaus finished fourth (3:19.18), less than a second behind De la Casa, while Jordi Enjuanes with 3:25.85, rounded out in fifth place.
The six groups define the winners
Beyond the absolute battle, Beixalís offered great doses of competition in the six groups: Albert Rodrigo (Citroën AX GTI) won Group 1, Cristian Mayoralas (VW Golf GTI) secured victory in Group 2, and Ferran Font (BMW M3) won Group 3.
As for Group 4, Mikel Azcona claimed first position, while as mentioned, Joan Gil dominated Group 5 with great assurance, followed by Ramon Plaus in second place. Finally, in Group 6, Jordi Enjuanes, the only participant, completed the event in fifth place overall.
‘Ferran Font Riudeubàs’ Trophy
With 1:35.89, the best absolute record of the day, Joan Gil also took home the Ferran Font Riudeubàs Trophy for the fastest driver of the Beixalís Hill Climb, an award that keeps alive the memory of Ferran Font Riudeubàs, as well as his great link to Andorran motorsport.

ACA CLUB Technical Training Program
The Beixalís Hill Climb also featured Marcel Sala, Guilherme Da Silva, Miquel Guiral, and Biel Martínez, the four drivers from the ACA Club's Technical Training Program.
In 21st place overall, Sala (VW Golf GTI) was the fastest of the program (4:06.29), while Guilherme Da Silva (Opel Astra) finished 23rd with 4:12.03. Miquel Guiral (Alfa Romeo 33) took the 24th place with 4:14.46.
